We have a reasonable and believable arrival date for the iPad — the first week of March, specifically Wednesday, March 7. And, as long-time Apple watchers know, the company has a demonstrable preference for holding product unveils on the third day of the week.

Also, pretty much everyone agrees that Apple’s tablet next will come equipped with a Retina (a.k.a. pixel doubled) display and likely a much better (i.e. 8 megapixel) camera.

And, there’s a fresh posting in the reasonable rumor department. MacRumors has republished a photo of the iPad 3′s motherboard (image below the fold) that shows a previously unknown “A5X” processor installed thereon.

We don’t know what features an A5X system-on-chip processor will have. However, with a Retina display all but certain, it seems fair to assume a more powerful graphics sub processor.

There’s no way to know if this photo’s real, but it looks “right.”

The rumors are gelling, but are they believable?
